ROYAL SOCIETY OF LITERATURE – ONLY CONNECT – WRITERS AND READERS

Writer's picture: STEVE COOKE AATASTEVE COOKE AATA

Founded in 1820, the Royal Society of Literature [RSL] is the UK’s charity for the advancement of literature. They act as a voice for the value of literature, engage people in appreciating literature, and encourage and honour writers.

Only Connect is their response to the pandemic; a letter from the RSL coming to subscribers three times a week [Monday, Wednesday and Friday].

‘Helping us to stay close to one another in these times of isolation. Named for one of the RSL’s first Companions of Literature, E.M. Forster, we hope that Only Connect can be a companion through difficulty.’

‘Only connect the prose and the passion, and both will be exalted, and human love will be seen at its height. Live in fragments no longer’— E.M. Forster

In each edition of Only Connect, a member of the RSL community, starting with the RSL staff team, will introduce you to a recording or article from the RSL’s library that means something to them.
