NOEL COWARD CLASSIC AT THE BOLTON OCTAGON

By Steve Cooke

The Octagon’s autumn/winter season includes a new production of Noël Coward’s Brief Encounter.

Adapted for the stage by Emma Rice, this timeless romance is reimagined for the stage.

A wonderful cast including Pete Ashmore, Joey Hickman, Robert Jackson, Lara Lewis, Natasha Lewis, Rishi Manuel and Anne-Marie Piazza.

The creative team includes Jessica Curtis (designer), Simon Slater (composer and sound designer, Alex Weatherhill (musical director and musician), Sally Ferguson (lighting designer), Erin Carter (associate director and movement director), Nicole Joseph (assistant director), Shelagh Revell (musician) and Sarah Hughes CDG (casting director).

Director, Paul Robinson said: “Rehearsals are going well, and we can’t wait now to bring our version of this classic story to the Octagon stage in October - it’s true to the original but with that unique playful twist that only Emma Rice can bring to a script.”

Laura and Alec are married – but not to each other. A chance meeting at a railway station hurls them headlong into a whirlwind romance that threatens to blow both their worlds apart.

Will they give in to love’s first rush and rick everything? Has this relationship changed the tracks of their lives forever?
